EIDP

The training course (TC) starts in Tbilisi, Georgia, and moves on to Baku, Azerbaijan, and involves 28 young people from Georgia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, the Netherlands, and Denmark. This caravan concept of the TC is quite unique, and will give the participants a direct impression on differences in two different states, cultures and possibly two different roles of gender in the society.

The duration of the training course is 8 days include a variety of different activities; amongst others photo-safari, presentations, discussions, workshops, exit polling at the Azeri parliament election, with gender related questions and teambuilding exercises. The overall theme for all activities is (the handling of) media and communication and through this throwing light on both gender- and role of the state issues due to the fact that these issues are practiacally visible and therefore able to work with.

The overall purpose of these themes and the primary working method is to engage youth with a new and different way of working and to put the two important issues of gender and roles of state on the agenda by comparing countries and cultures and discussing the issue, amongst other things gender voting patterns in the region, and by that widen the participant's intellectual horizon. In addition to this primary working method, is the importance put on cooperation in workshops and discussion. This is the reason why teambuilding exercises play an important role in the training course as well. Furthermore, after the training course an evaluation will take place to enhance the quality of further projects and to sum of the tools, knowledge, etc. what the participants have learnt and how they can use it both personally and in their community.

On the 7th of November scheduled parliamentary elections are supposed to be taken place. During our stay we will observe these elections as accredited international election observers.

The EIDP can send 3 Dutch participants + 1 group leader to this event. Normal refund procedures of Youth in Action apply: 70% of travel refund + 100% board and lodging. Visa costs will be 100% reimbursed. The group leader has been selected and only normal participants are wanted. For the Dutch participants there is a non-refundable participation fee of 50 Euros.
